Fan events planned for final NCHC Frozen Faceoff in St. Paul
Mar. 18—ST. PAUL, Minn. — The National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff will be held for one final time in St. Paul.
Next season, the league's playoffs will be entirely at home sites.
The league has planned several events surrounding The Last Call in St. Paul.
Fan events start Thursday morning with practices open to the public.
UND skates at 2 p.m. in Xcel Energy Center.
Fans wishing to attend should enter through Gate 1. The venue will be open from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Denver practices at 10:15 a.m., Arizona State at 11:30 a.m. and Western Michigan at 12:45 p.m.
Press conferences follow practices.
The NCHC Awards Celebration begins at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul Event Center.
UND has four major award finalists.
Sacha Boisvert is a finalist for NCHC Rookie of the Year. Jake Livanavage is a finalist for NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year. Louis Jamernik V is a finalist for NCHC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award. And broadcaster Tim Hennessy is a finalist for the NCHC Media Excellence Award.
The NCHC Fan Skate will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
Fans need to bring their own skates — no rentals are available — and enter through Gate 1, which opens at 6:30 p.m. No sticks or pucks are allowed.
The NCHC Fan Skate is free.
NCHC Fan Fest will be held on Friday and Saturday at Smorgie's Bar, which is located across the street from Xcel Energy Center.
Fan Fest is from 2-6 p.m. Friday and 4-7 p.m. Saturday.
Food, drinks, music, trivia and bubble hockey will be available for fans. Admission is free.
The Wild play the Buffalo Sabres at 1 p.m. Saturday ahead of the NCHC championship game.
That game could feature former UND defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker, who was recently traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Sabres.
Bernard-Docker hasn't played since Dec. 28 due to an injury sustained at an Ottawa practice. Since being traded, he's had issues with his visa, but those are now resolved. He's expected to soon make his Sabres debut.

Saturday's championship: Semifinal winners, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, Minn.
