Falcons’ rival hosts multiple Georgia Bulldogs on NFL draft visits

Multiple Georgia Bulldogs are receiving major interest from the New Orleans Saints, who met with potential first-round edge rusher Mykel Williams, along with wide receiver Arian Smith, according to Ely Allen of Pro Football Rumors. Georgia football fans, who also root for the Atlanta Falcons, could be forced to root against some more Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL.

Williams has been mocked to be drafted in the beginning of the first-round. The three-year edge rusher put up 14.5 sacks during his UGA career. He posted five sacks in 2024, a season that saw him miss two games due to an ankle injury. It also forced him out of NFL combine drills.

Williams to the Saints would be a solid fit. The Saints have been desperately searching for any punch in the pass rush, with star Cameron Jordan starting to age, and in the midst of a deep rebuild, building from the trenches is a wise decision.

The Saints also could use wide receiver reinforcements after seeing their top two wide receivers last season (Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed) go down with season-ending injuries by Week 9. That's where Arian Smith comes in. The five-year veteran speedster for Georgia totaled 1,356 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 68 receptions.

Smith's most promising attribute is his blistering speed and acceleration. He ran a 4.36 second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and was in the top 10 for the 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill.
