Experts hand out grades for Rams' moves in free agency so far
While free-agent signings are still happening every day, the bulk of the big names are now off the market nearly two weeks into the market being open. The Los Angeles Rams brought in some new faces and retained some of their own free agents, signing the likes of Davante Adams, Poona Ford, Tutu Atwell and Alaric Jackson.
Fans have mostly agreed with the Rams' moves so far and experts seem to be on board with their decisions, too. Several outlets handed out free agency grades for each team and the Rams are among the best in the NFL.
Here's a look at how they've graded out thus far.
USA Today
Difficult as the Cooper Kupp divorce was for all parties, hard to argue the reigning NFC West champions didn’t upgrade at the position with the arrival of three-time All-Pro Davante Adams (2 years, $44 million). He and DT Poona Ford (3 years, $27.6 million) were the main imports after GM Les Snead sorted out the business of keeping WR3 Tutu Atwell (1 year, $10 million) and LT Alaric Jackson (3 years, $56.3 million) … which all paled to figuring out a 2025 arrangement that worked for QB Matthew Stafford.
CBS Sports
After a wild few weeks, the Rams were able to keep Matthew Stafford in-house, keeping their quarterback position stable. They also kept starting left tackle Alaric Jackson. On top of that, they gave Stafford a new pass catcher in Davante Adams, who should form a lethal one-two punch with Puka Nacua. Los Angeles also poached Ponna Ford from the Chargers to add to its defensive line. While they did trade away Jonah Jackson, the Rams have landed on their feet so far in free agency, and are building a dangerous team for 2025.
Pro Football Focus
Pro Football Focus didn't give each individual signing a letter grade, but all of the Rams' deals were rated as "average" or better. Ford's was graded as "above average" and Adams' was "good," according to PFF.
Yahoo Sports
Why: Matthew Stafford is back and Davante Adams is joining him, which is great. The grade gets knocked down a little because cornerback and linebacker remain issues.
