2025 Tennessee Titans free agency: Experts, insiders offer mixed grades
The Tennessee Titans have been busy over the first week of free agency, specifically addressing the offensive line. They also added much-needed depth at several positions as new general manager Mike Borgonzi is making major changes in his first offseason.
While these moves were needed, there is a lot of work left to be done. The Titans remain extremely thin at edge and wide receiver and still have questions all over the roster.
For the most part, the Titans have received mixed reviews for their work during the first week of free agency. But, as many in the industry have pointed out, there are still major holes to be filled.
Here's a quick snapshot of the Titans' free agency grades after the first week.
USA TODAY: B
The Titans needed to fix their offensive line after having trouble on the right side last season. Tennessee remedied that by signing left tackle Dan Moore Jr. to a four-year, $82 million contract. The deal was an overpay but will allow 2024 first-round pick JC Latham to move to the right side. Latham and veteran free-agent signing Kevin Zeitler will do a much better job on the right side than what Tennessee had last season, while Moore should be serviceable on the left side.
The Titans also signed reasonable deals with defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones, linebacker Cody Barton and safety Xavier Woods, so this has been a solid overall free-agent period for first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi.

The Titans spent big here on Moore, making him one of the 10 highest-paid tackles in the league. While he’s coming off the best season of his career, the former Steeler still hasn’t been one of the 40 highest-graded tackles at any point in his first four years. Tennessee is hoping that the 26-year-old is just beginning to reach his potential while also allowing their 2024 first-round pick, JC Latham, to switch back to his collegiate position of right tackle.

If Dan Moore Jr. helps the offensive line, then the grade goes up. That's a lot of money to pay for him. It's hard to see Moore or Cody Barton having a huge impact.
CBS Sports: C
The Titans are still mulling taking a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick, but whoever is under center for them will have new protection on the blindside. On Monday, Tennessee landed left tackle Dan Moore Jr. on a four-year, $82 million deal. This signing now affords Tennessee to move JC Latham back to his more familiar right tackle position (which he played in college). Maybe Moore isn't worth all that money, but the Titans had to do something to improve on the offensive line. They doubled down on offensive line improvement on Wednesday with the one-year signing of 35-year-old Pro Bowl center Kevin Zeitler. Perhaps quarterback Cam Ward is up next with the first overall pick?
Pro Football Network: B
The Tennessee Titans have been relatively quiet so far in free agency. They cut Harold Landry III and saw him join their former head coach in New England. Cutting a talented player is naturally never ideal, and the Titans will have a hard time replacing Landry’s production potential in 2025.
Their biggest moves have been on the offensive line, where the Titans have signed Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Zeitler. Moore’s arrival allows JC Latham to play his more natural right tackle position, while Zeitler should form a strong guard tandem with Peter Skoronski. Suddenly, last year’s 28th-ranked offensive line by PFSN’s rankings looks like a potential strength.
With around $60 million in cap space, there has to be more to come in terms of their offseason. There is a chance they are waiting to see how the quarterback market falls to determine their next set of moves. If they add a veteran quarterback, they could then push for some win-now type options, but if they have to start again with a rookie quarterback, they may look to carry over as much cap space as possible into 2026.
The improvement offered by the Moore-Latham bookends is mitigated by losing a player as talented as Landry. The Moore signing is exciting, and a step in the right direction, but the rest of the offseason has been uninspiring. Dre’Mont Jones was solid in Denver but failed to live up to expectations in Seattle. Production has been a concern, but he should be a rotational piece for a unit that needs depth up front.
The Sporting News: C
The Titans look headed to getting franchise quarterback Cam Ward in the draft ahead of also loading up on front-seven defensive help. Zeitler and Moore add to their offensive line re-working for Brian Callahan.
