Eddie George says divine intervention may have led him to Bowling Green
We shared with you last week that former Ohio State star running back and 1995 Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George was coming back to the Buckeye State to become the head football coach at Bowling Green University. Recently, George shared just a bit of insight on how he decided ... or rather was guided to the opening.
The former Buckeye was on the Triple Option Podcast with 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, former OSU head coach Urban Meyer, and broadcaster Rob Stone shortly after his hire at BGSU. He was asked how he came to the decision to leave Tennessee State and come to Northwest Ohio. George shared, "I'm driving, and literally, swear to God, I said 'God, show me a sign. What do I do next year to prepare?' Right now, I'm in the last year of my deal, not hearing much talk from Tennessee State."
Eddie shares he was driving back from Indianapolis at the NFL Draft combine, and as he was driving through the town of Bowling Green, Kentucky, while he was praying, he sees a text message from Urban Meyer. George goes on to say, "I look down at my phone, and I see Urban text me. He says, 'Hey, would you be interested in the Bowling Green job?" Eddie says as he read the text, he saw a sign on the side of the road that said Bowling Green.
Meyer was asked to be part of the search committee by the Bowling Green Athletic Director, and Eddie came to mind. According to the new Falcon head coach, Meyer's text may have been divine timing. You can listen to the full show below.
