Eagles' biggest positions of need after the first wave of 2025 NFL free agency
The Eagles suffered significant losses in free agency, yet Nick Sirianni's team still can be considered one of the most complete teams and rosters in the NFL. Philadelphia saw three starters and two key contributors depart in free agency. At the same time, C.J. Gardner-Johnson (Texans) and Kenny Pickett (Browns) were traded to free up salary cap space for future moves.
On offense, the backup running back and starting right guard departed, leaving an explosive offense with two holes that need to be filled. All wasn't lost, as the Eagles added a running back, three pass-rushing linebackers, two tight ends, a cornerback, and a new long snapper.
With the NFL draft one month away, we're examining the biggest needs for the Eagles' loaded roster after the first wave of free agency.
Edge Rusher
The Eagles added three edge rushers in free agency on one-year deals but still could look to add one more player to the position after losing Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Brandon Graham.
Offensive guard
The Eagles have Tyler Steen on the roster and traded for Kenyon Green but could still look to add an offensive guard in the NFL draft.
Safety
After trading C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Philadelphia has Reed Blankenship, Lewis Cine, Tristin McCollum, Andre Sam, and Sydney Brown at the safety position.
Cornback
The Eagles lost Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers at the cornerback position opposite Quinyon Mitchell, and Avonte Maddox just signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions. The Eagles signed Adoree Jackson and have Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks in the mix.
Defensive Tackle
Philadelphia saw Milton Williams exit in free agency and could look to address this position in the NFL draft. Jalen Carter is an every-down player, but the Eagles only have Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, and Thomas Booker on the roster.
Linebacker
The Eagles retained Zack Baun on a massive deal but have Nakobe Dean rehabbing a serious injury, and Oren Burks signed a deal with the Bengals. The Eagles do have Jeremiah Trotter, their fifth-round pick last year.
