Mar. 31—MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball player Emma Yost was named an NAIA All-American on Monday, earning a spot on the third team.
The 6-foot sophomore forward from Wagner was one of the Tigers' top performers this season, leading the team with 15.9 points per game on 49.2% shooting. She added 5.4 rebounds per game and recorded two double-doubles during the year. Yost garnered Great Plains Athletic Conference first team honors as DWU went 25-7 and advanced to the second round of the NAIA tournament. Yost was the only DWU player, women or men, to be named an All-American.
The GPAC was well-represented on the women's All-American squads. Dordt's Macy Sievers was honored as the NAIA women's player of the year, leading the Defenders to their second-straight national title. She averaged 15.6 points, 7.8 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game while also earning first-team GPAC and NAIA tournament honors.
Briar Cliff's Mallie McNair was the other first-team honoree from the GPAC. Dordt's Janie Van Donge was named to the second team, and Doane's Mak Hatcliff was named the third team alongside Yost.
Dakota State's Tabor Teel, of Colton, was also a second-team selection representing the Trojans. Chris Nelson of Bethel (Tenn.) was named the 2025 NAIA Women's Basketball coach of the year.
On the men's side, Kashie Natt, of LSU Alexandria (La.), was named the NAIA player of the year, averaging a double-double at 20 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. College of Idaho's Colby Blaine was named the 2025 NAIA coach of the year after leading the Coyotes to a 35-2 record and an NAIA national championship.
The GPAC placed four players on the men's All-American teams. Concordia's Tristan Smith and Dordt's Lucas Lorenzen were both tabbed on the first team. Northwestern's Alex Van Kalsbeek was named to the second team, and Morningside's Joey Skoff was recognized as a third team honoree.
