Draymond Green on possibly facing LeBron James' Lakers in playoffs

If the NBA regular season ended right now, the Los Angeles Lakers would face the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. It could be a prime-time matchup, especially considering the fact that both teams have been revitalized by their midseason additions.

The Warriors, who were in a gradual decaying process, traded for six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler in early February, and they have won 20 of their last 25 games as a result. The Lakers, of course, landed generational superstar Luka Doncic, and prior to that, they acquired Dorian Finney-Smith, who is the type of 3-and-D forward they badly needed.

Draymond Green told ESPN's Malika Andrews that a matchup versus LeBron James' crew could be very exciting.

"Anytime we face LeBron, that's always cinematic. It's always an incredible challenge, so that's always fun."

James, of course, has had some memorable battles versus the Warriors over the years. His Cleveland Cavaliers faced the Warriors in the NBA Finals four straight times from 2015 to 2018, and his Lakers defeated Green's men in the second round of the 2023 playoffs.

James and Green have apparently become good friends off the court, and, of course, there is always the matchup between James and Stephen Curry, arguably the two greatest NBA players of this generation.

Golden State defeated the Lakers 123-116 on Thursday night, as the Lakers couldn't throw a pea into the ocean in the first three quarters and had lots of problems on their defensive backboards throughout the game.
