NMCA’s Ferraiuolos, Mackinaw City’s Ming make all-NLC girls basketball first team
MACKINAW CITY – A pair of Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy sisters and one Mackinaw City Comet were recently named to the all-Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball first team.
Leading the way for NMCA were eighth grader Lauren Ferraiuolo and freshman Shanna Ferraiuolo, who earned nods on the NLC’s first team.
As a terrific young guard duo, the Ferraiuolos helped lift the Eagles to a first-ever district championship and a second-place finish in the Northern Lakes Conference. NMCA reached the title game before falling to champion Ellsworth, which also featured several all-conference performers.
Joining the two Ferraiuolos was Mackinaw City junior Kerry-Ann Ming, who delivered a stellar season on the court, helping lead the Comets to a double-digit win campaign.
Finding spots on the NLC’s second team were Mackinaw City’s Kenzlie Currie and Rian Esper, as well as NMCA’s Ariel Tucker.
Area players picking up NLC honorable mention recognition were NMCA’s Isabel Hoffmeyer and Ellie Schepperley, and Wolverine’s Taya Long and Haydan Williams.
