“Do you want to win titles?” – Chelsea legend admits he told Blues player to leave the club
A Chelsea legend has admitted this week that he actually told a recent Blues player to leave the club if he wanted to win titles.
I don’t think that Chelsea fans will be too happy hearing about this story, because the player in question actually became a bit of a fan favourite before he left the club.
EXCLUSIVE! Enzo Maresca has decided on the striker he wants to sign at Chelsea!!
Antonio Rudiger left Chelsea to join Real Madrid in 2022 and he has never looked back since.
The centre back has actually quite recently spoken about his decision to leave the Stamford Bridge club and it seems like it was just the right time for him to do so.
And former Chelsea Assistant Manager Jody Morris was speaking about how Rudiger became one of the best defenders in Europe back in 2024.
Rudiger grew more and more at Chelsea and this saw the giants then coming in for him. More often than now for any player in the game really, when Real Madrid come knocking, it’s hard to ignore them.
Makelele told Rudiger to leave
Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has admitted that he actually encouraged Rudiger to leave Chelsea to join Real Madrid.
‘Look at him now at Real Madrid,’ said Makelele via Marca. ‘The first thing he did when he got the chance at Real Madrid was come to me and say: “What do you think?'” I told him, run, this is your chance.
‘He had offers from Bayern, PSG… but I said: “Do you want to win titles? You’ve already won some, you have everything, but do you really want to become a player at that level?”
‘Then go there, rub shoulders with the great players and you’ll understand what it means. I’m happy for him.’
I guess we can let him off because he did play for both clubs as well!
