Diana Fox Carney likely wouldn't mind a longe stay in Ottawa, home to the PWHL's Ottawa Charge, the Rideau Canal, and the origins of women's hockey.
Fox Carney was an avid women's hockey player, and in fact, it was while she was playing in a game for Oxford University that she first connected with Canada's current Prime Minister, Mark Carney.
“Mark was watching an ice hockey game that Diana was playing in and he asked someone, ‘Who’s that person over there?’ She was by far the best player on the team and he was impressed, I guess,” a long time friend of the Carney's told the Toronto Star.
Mark Carney was also a hockey player, a netminder.
The duo both played at Oxford University in England, which is where they met in the early 1990s, marrying in 1994.
According to the Oxford University Ice Hockey Club website, "As a member of the OUWIHC, Diana Fox was known for her ability to skate rings around her opponents and move effortlessly through the opposing defensive line."
