David De Gea has enjoyed a remarkable first few months in Serie A with Fiorentina. The Spanish keeper has become a fan favourite since signing as a free agent in August. This season, across 28 league appearances, he has 10 clean sheets. Now Relevo are reporting that Fiorentina have already exercised the option in his contract to extend it a further year, until 2026. His salary will also see an increase, from €1.2m a season to €2.4m, a clear representation of the trust the club have on him and the performances he has given.
La Nazione (via ViolaNews.com) are reporting that instead of this extended year option, La Viola are also looking into the possibility of offering him a new 2-year contract which will keep him in Florence till the summer of 2027. The former Manchester United man has largely redeemed his impression at Fiorentina after a dismal last couple of years at the Old Trafford left the footballing world questioning his capabilities.
