Contract details and breakdown for Arizona Cardinals OLB Josh Sweat
The contract numbers are in for Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat and it is very close to the initial reporting of the four-year contract agreed to on the first day of the negotiating period.
Reported as a $76.4 million deal with $41 million guaranteed, $38 million is guaranteed at signing with the remaining $3 million guaranteed at signing for injury only, but it becomes guaranteed as part of his 2027 base salary of $17 million early in that league year.
The contract also includes one void year, which allows the signing bonus of $18.5 million to be prorated on the salary cap over five years and a $7.22 million guaranteed option bonus in 2026 to be prorated over four years. That bonus must be exercised by the 10th day of the 2026 league year.
Josh Sweat's salary breakdown
- 2025: $2.5 million guaranteed
- 2026: $9.78 million guaranteed
- 2027: $17 million ($3 million guaranteed injury only at signing)
- 2028: $17 million
Bonuses
Each year includes $58,823 per-game roster bonuses for a maximum of $1 million. He also has a $100,000 offseason workout bonus each year.
Salary cap details
As for the salary cap, this year’s charge is $7.24 million, followed by $16.385 million in 2026 and $23.6 million in 2027 and 2028.
For the eight signed players with published contract details (Sweat, Baron Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, safety Joey Blount and long snapper Aaron Brewer) plus the one-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $33.198 million.
We still do not know official figures for additions Jacoby Brissett, Jake Curhan, Dalvin Tomlinson and Simi Fehoko along with re-signed players Kelvin Beachum and Zay Jones.
