Commanders bring back special teams ace on multi-year deal
Nick Bellore is the impact player for the Washington Commanders that you heard little about. The veteran linebacker is best known as an ace on special teams. On Thursday, Washington, showing appreciation for Bellore's contributions, re-signed him to a two-year contract.

Bellore's re-signing is different for two seasons. Not only is he an older free agent (he turns 36 in May), but he also received a two-year contract, whereas most of Washington's re-signings were one-year deals.
Why?
Bellore and Jeremy Reaves were the Commanders' leaders on special teams. Under special teams coach Larry Izzo, Washington's coverage units were among the best in the NFL. Bellore followed Izzo to Washington from Seattle. Bellore was a two-time Pro Bowler on special teams with the Seahawks under Izzo's leadership.
Bellore is another respected voice in the locker room. His re-signing means the Commanders want to ensure their special teams' units remain among the NFL's best.
