Colts free agency: Eagles 'open to trade talks' about Super Bowl winning TE
Should the Indianapolis Colts look into trading for Philadelphia Eagles' tight end Dallas Goedert?
According to FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles have been "open to trade talks" involving Goedert.
The Colts, of course, need a much greater presence in the passing game from the tight end position and Goedert could certainly provide that. Over the last four seasons, Goedert is averaging 70 targets and just shy of 700 receiving yards per year.
There is also familiarity with Shane Steichen and his offense, with Steichen having spent two seasons in Philadelphia as the offensive coordinator.
Goedert is in the final year of his deal and has a base salary of just $1.25 million, which would be easy for the Colts to absorb, although whoever acquires the tight end would likely have to sign him to an extension.

Tight end still remains a major need for the Colts. The cost of acquiring Goedert is parting with draft capital to do so and the additional cap space that comes with a new deal.
On the flip side, this is a very deep tight end draft class, and the Colts could look to find needed help through that avenue. However, there is obvious some risk in that approach with not knowing how the board will fall or who will be available, and there are still unknowns with most rookies.
