Cleveland Guardians' Kyle Manzardo finds ritual, more comfort after rookie season in MLB

CLEVELAND — A postgame ritual started late last month when the Guardians opened their season at the Kansas City Royals and Kyle Manzardo sought a way to maintain an even-keeled outlook after each outing.

Manzardo proposed Clash Royale video game showdowns with Daniel Schneemann, so the Guardians teammates agreed to create a tradition.

“He's like, 'Hey, how about no matter what, no matter if we go 0-for-4 or 4-for-4, we get a couple games in, just so we can clear our heads and we kind of move on from the past?'” Schneemann told the Beacon Journal.

Locker neighbors in Cleveland's clubhouse, Manzardo and Schneemann each had a smartphone in hand Friday night as they sat beside each other while battling virtually after the Guardians defeated the Royals 7-0 at Progressive Field.
