Clemson basketball's Dillon Hunter is out indefinitely with broken right hand
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Clemson basketball guard Dillon Hunter is out indefinitely with a broken right hand, basketball sports information director Ben Winterrowd told the Greenville News on Friday.
Hunter injured his hand on Thursday in the final minute of the first half against SMU in the ACC tournament quarterfinals at Spectrum Center. He exited the game and did not return in the second half.
The No. 3 seed Tigers will face No. 2 Louisville on Friday (9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN). The winner will face No. 1 Duke or No. 5 UNC in the championship game on Saturday (8:30 p.m., ESPN/ESPN2).

Is Dillon Hunter playing vs. Louisville in ACC tournament? Injury update
Hunter suffered a broken right hand in Clemson's win against Thursday. He had a cast on his hand postgame, and X-rays confirmed he broke it.
Hunter has been a key contributor for Clemson this season, averaging 5.4 points and 1.9 assists over 22.5 minutes in 30 games. Clemson is 8-0 this season when Dillon Hunter starts with Chase Hunter, Jaeden Zackery, Ian Schieffelin and Viktor Lakhin.
How did Dillon Hunter get hurt?
In Clemson's game against SMU on Thursday, Mustangs forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton scored a layup to cut its deficit to three points with 50 seconds left in the first half. On the play, Dillon Hunter tried to reach for the basketball to force a steal but injured his hand, saying he felt a "shock" in his hand.
Hunter was in pain, forcing coach Brad Brownell to call a timeout. Clemson trainers checked on Hunter, and he went to the locker room. He did not return during warm-ups for the second half.
Clemson announced in the second half that Hunter injured a finger and ruled him out.
Who will Clemson replace Dillon Hunter with?
Clemson's backcourt depth will take a hit without Hunter. Guard Jake Heidbreder and freshman guard Del Jones will have increased roles in Hunter's absence. Heidbreder started in the second half in place of Hunter, finishing with five points over 23 minutes. Jones logged two points over 16 points.
Forward Chauncey Wiggins may return to the starting lineup in place of Hunter for the rest of the postseason.
