Chauncey Wiggins entered the transfer portal and was looking for a fresh start. He found it in a familiar school at Florida State.

New FSU assistant coach Amorrow Morgan connected quickly with Wiggins, who spoke to a number of coaches around the country before visiting FSU and Pittsburgh before making his decision to sign with coach Luke Loucks and the Seminoles on Wednesday.

"Ultimately, the goal is to get to the NBA and to win a lot of games for coach Loucks and Florida State," Wiggins told the Osceola. "I’m still all about academics. I want to get my degree from Florida State."

Wiggins averaged 8.3 points and 2.9 rebounds as a junior at Clemson in 2024-25, enjoying career highs in both categories as he also saw more playing time (26 minutes per game). He scored in double figures in 15 of Clemson's 34 games, including 12 points and 11 points in the Tigers' wins over FSU this season.

The 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward shot 80.6 percent from the free-throw line and 36.5 percent from 3-point range.

"He showed me ways that I fit his system, because he coached in the NBA," Wiggins said of Loucks. "So he was just showing me different ways like catch-and-shoot, one-dribble pull-up (jumper)."

Loucks also pointed out a few areas where Wiggins can improve.

"I've got to work on my rebounding, of course," Wiggins said. "That was the first thing we talked about. Got to work on that. And then also I have to keep working on my defense, get stronger."

Wiggins has shown he's capable of being an effective stretch 4, shooting 42 of 115 from beyond the 3-point arc. He plans to make improving his consistency from long range a priority in the offseason.

"I feel like that’s what the game is coming to now," Wiggins said. "Of course, it's different aspects. But I just feel like, whatever team you’re on in NBA, college, high school, you got to be able to shoot the 3 ball. My goal is to get to 40 (percent). So I will be working on my shooting. I'll be working on all aspects of my game to get better."

Wiggins is finishing up the semester at Clemson before moving to Tallahassee. He will enroll over the summer and begin classes toward his degree in Sport Management.

FSU has landed three transfer in the last week, beginning with Drexel guard transfer Kobe MaGee on Saturday and St. Bonaventure transfer Lajae Jones on Monday. The Seminoles have also retained A.J. Swinton, who will be a rising sophomore in 2025-26.
