Chauncey Wiggins, Clemson basketball star forward, enters transfer portal
CLEMSON — Clemson basketball forward Chauncey Wiggins entered the transfer portal Monday after spending three seasons with the Tigers.
Wiggins averaged 8.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in his junior year last season over 23.6 minutes in 34 games. His 6-foot-10 size allowed him to be a matchup nightmare against smaller players and has the range to be a consistent 3-point shooter. He averaged over 43% shooting in each season with Clemson.
Wiggins was a starter for Clemson in his past two seasons but was benched in favor of other players (forward Jack Clark in 2023-24; guard Dillon Hunter in 2024-25) in the final regular-season games in both seasons.
When Hunter suffered a broken right hand against SMU in this year's ACC tournament, Wiggins returned to the starting lineup in Clemson's final two games. However, Wiggins' production dipped, averaging 8.5 points but shooting 30%, including 27.3% from 3-point range, over both contests.
With guard Chase Hunter, forward Ian Schieffelin and center Viktor Lakhin not returning next season because of expiring eligibility, Wiggins was expected to have a larger role with Clemson in his final season.
Wiggins is the third Tiger player to enter the portal this offseason, joining guard Del Jones and forward Asa Thomas.
The portal opened Monday and will close on April 22 for transfers with one exception: Players whose coach leaves the school will have an additional 30 days to enter the portal, beginning the day after the coach's departure. There is no deadline for portal players to commit to a new program.
