The Boston Celtics close out the 2024-25 season with two home games against the Charlotte Hornets. Because Boston is locked into the two-seed in the East, and the Hornets are headed for an early vacation, the games won't have any impact on the upcoming NBA playoffs.
Still, Boston elected to play all of its top players to start the game, save Jaylen Brown, who sat with a knee injury. Perhaps it was because there was nothing at stake, that two Celtics stars decided to have a bit of fun. Jayson Tatum and Derrick White appeared to swap accessories for the game. Each player donned the other's usual gear, something fans flagged on social media from the very first play.
White wore an sweat band on his left arm and a single leg sleeve. This is Tatum's usual kit. Instead, the Tatum wore a pair of all-white leggings, the same kind that his teammate usually wears.
Jayson White... or Derrick Tatum 🤔🤔

White took the charade a step further. He mocked Tatum's pregame routine prior to the opening tip, and blew a kiss to the crowd upon hitting his first 3-pointer of the night.
Tatum and White are close friends on and off the court, so perhaps Friday's antics shouldn't come as a complete surprise. Chemistry and continuity have both been a key ingredient to Boston's success over the last few seasons.
With the playoffs just a week away, that camaraderie will be put to the test. Tatum, White, and the Celtics begin their title defense next week with the NBA postseason set to begin April 19.
