Minus starters Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis, the Boston Celtics had no trouble handling business against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night. Picking up their 58th win of the season with just four regular season games remaining on the year, Boston is clicking on all cylinders while also being carried in their final games by their top role and bench players.
After going 14-1 in the month of March, the Celtics dropped their first game in April to the Miami Heat, which snapped their nine-game winning streak, but have bounced back with two wins since. Those two wins have been by at least 20 points in victories over the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards, who the Celtics defeated 124-90 on Sunday evening.
Here's a quick recap of Boston's 124-90 victory over the Wizards as they sweep the season series against a rebuilding Washington franchise.
Keys to the game:
Nearly doubled the Wizards in rebounding: Led by Luke Kornet's 14 rebounds in the game, 9 of which were on the offensive glass, Boston dominated the Wizards in rebounds. On the night, Boston finished with 62 rebounds in the game while Washington had just 32, which was led by Justin Champagnie. Outside of Kornet's game-high, Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, Jrue Holiday, Torrey Craig, and Al Horford all finished with at least six rebounds in the victory.
Luke Kornet continues to shine: Not only did Kornet lead the team in rebounds in the victory over Washington, but he also had his fourth straight game with double digit scoring outputs. In two of his last four games, Kornet has finished with a double-double in those games, and has shown to have turned in a corner in his play recently, making him an even more valuable asset going into the playoffs this postseason.
