Cardinal Newman quarterback Jyron Hughley commits to West Virginia

Cardinal Newman quarterback Jyron Hughley, a three-star athlete, has decided where he wants to play college ball.

After taking a visit to West Virginia at the end of March for a weekend, Hughley decided to commit to the Mountaineers football program.

The Crusaders' signal-caller entered his junior year with high expectations around the county, and he delivered, taking Newman to the regional final on the back of a season in which he accumulated 2,188 all-purpose yards.

Hughley passed for 1,353 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding another 835 yards and 10 scores on the ground as one of Palm Beach County's top dual-threat quarterbacks this year.

Cardinal Newman finished with a 10-2 record in the 2024-25 season, scoring at a clip of 35.4 points per game with Hughley at the helm of their offense alongside head coach Jack Daniels.

Hughley chose West Virginia as his college home over a number of Division I programs, including Florida State and Miami.

Of note is that Hughley is related to former West Virginia quarterback JaJuan Seider. Seider also spent time as an assistant coach with the Mountaineers.
