The Vancouver Canucks (33-26-12) continue their six-game road trip on Wendesday when they take on the New York Islanders (32-28-10). This will be the second meeting of the season between these two teams, with the Islanders defeating the Canucks 5-2 back in Novemeber. Vancouver and New York have gone to extra time a combined 37 times this season, which means there is a good chance that Wednesday's game will be decided in either overtime or a shootout.

Wednesday night should produce an exciting game as both the Canucks and Islanders are in intense playoff races. Vancouver sits five points out of the second Wild Card spot, while only one point separates New York from the Montréal Canadiens. Based on some of the scores around the league, a loss would put a significant dent in both of these teams' pursuit of a 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs berth.

Players to Watch:

Jonathan Lekkerimäki:

Jonathan Lekkerimäki is coming off one of his most impressive performances of the season. Despite playing only 9:52, the Swedish winger scored in regulation and recorded his first career shootout winner. With the Canucks missing significant offensive pieces from their lineup, it will not be surprising to see Lekkerimäki get some extra ice time on Wednesday.

Bo Horvat:

Bo Horvat has been one of the Islanders' best players this season. Vancouver's former captain leads the team with 49 points and is one goal away from his fourth consecutive 25-goal campaign. While the Canucks wouldn't be eliminated with a loss, Horvat has an opportunity to put a massive dent in their playoffs hopes with a strong performance for New York.
