Byron ends its season with dismantling of DeLaSalle
Mar. 20—BYRON — The Byron boys basketball team ended its season on a high note, easily dispatching No. 5 seed DeLaSalle 80-66 in the state Class 3A tournament fifth-place game Thursday at Concordia University St. Paul's Gangelhoff Center.
The Bears, seeded sixth, got 22 points from Max Dearborn, 17 from Will Brian and 16 from Fisher Kruckerberg.
Byron shot extremely well, hitting 25 of 44 field-goal attempts for 46% overall. It was even better from 3-point range, going 11-of-22 from there.
The 6-foot-5 Dearborn especially lit things up. The senior guard/forward was 6-for-11 on 3-pointers and 4-for-4 at the free-throw line, accounting for all of his points. Dearborn also hauled in 11 rebounds.
Byron outrebounded the Islanders 32-14. Will Brian had six boards and Colin Hansen had five.
Byron was in control throughout, including leading 41-25 at halftime.
DeLaSalle was led by Jaden Udean with 25 points.
Byron finished its stellar season 28-4 overall. DeLaSalle ended 25-6.
