Bucs sign veteran OL Charlie Heck to add depth
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost some offensive line depth on Thursday when Justin Skule left for the Minnesota Vikings. To the benefit of the Bucs, they have already found a potential replacement as their swing tackle on the free-agent market.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the Bucs and offensive tackle Charlie Heck had agreed to terms on a contract. The deal is for just one year, but it will allow Heck to audition for the team and earn a longer deal next year.
Heck was drafted by the Houston Texans as a fourth-round pick in 2020. He played four seasons in which he appeared in 41 games and started 21 with the Texans before looking for his next NFL home. After the Texans cut Heck out of training camp in 2024, Heck would then jump around the NFC West by signing with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers.
In total, he has appeared in 50 games in his career but if he plays filler for the Bucs he has a chance to increase that number in 2025.
