Bucs get help on both sides of the ball in latest mock draft
Today is another day in the long journey to the 2025 NFL Draft, which, of course, means we now have another mock draft to break down and analyze. Thankfully, there is an added angle to this mock draft we discussed today that makes it a tad more special and gives a little more to look at through our lens.
Chad Reuter of NFL Media published a 4-round mock draft on Friday. As we get ready to start a new week, what better time to discuss the picks?
As we have discussed, Jason Licht and the Bucs had a great 2024 draft cycle. 2025 is set to be just as important a year as any for the team, especially considering how close this roster is to being in contention for a Super Bowl. Let's look at what Chad Reuter gave the Bucs as they look to pursue that perfect roster.
- Round 1, Pick 19: Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M
- Round 2, Pick 53: Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina
- Round 3, Pick 84: Lathan Ransom, SAF, Ohio State
- Round 4, Pick 121: Wyatt Milum, OL, West Virginia
The picks of Shemar Stewart and Shavon Revel are ones that make a lot of sense for the Bucs. Stewart would be a defensive project for Todd Bowles, but he helps the team address their big-time need at the edge rusher position. The signing of Haason Reddick allows them to be a little more than flexible with who they pick to play opposite him on the edge. As for Shavon Revel, he is a top-ten player for me in this draft class, but the torn ACL he suffered this year will cause him to tumble down the board.
He can be the Bucs' number-one cornerback alongside Zyon McCollum and set them up for sustained success at the position.
The final two picks, Lathan Ransom and Wyatt Milum, make a little less sense to us. The Bucs have solidified their offensive line, the picking of Milum would do more of that. There isn't much for him to do in terms of starting so the pick seems like one that should go a different direction.
The pick of Lathan Ransom makes more sense than Milum, but it also is confusing. The Bucs seem to be gearing towards moving ahead with Tykee Smith and Antoine Winfield Jr. Ransom, which would give the team some depth, it isn't a need, but it could make sense. With Antoine Winfield Jr. having some injury history, it would serve as a nice insurance policy.
