Leading up to their April 5 contest against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins recalled forward Fraser Minten from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. This is Minten's first call-up to the Bruins' roster since being acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs last month.
Minten was with the Bruins at TD Garden for team photos, and the youngster's number was revealed. The Vancouver native will be the first Bruin in franchise history to wear No. 93.
With Providence, Minten sports No. 45, but that is already taken by forward Cole Koepke on Boston's roster. While with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Minten rocked No. 39, but that was also not available because Morgan Geekie wears it. Thus, Minten has now swapped the digits of his previous number with Toronto and will sport No. 93 in Boston.
All fans will now be keeping a close eye on Minten during his call-up to the Bruins' roster from here. The 2022 second-round pick has excellent potential and could blossom into a key part of the Bruins' roster in this new era of their franchise history.
In 19 career NHL games over two seasons, Minten has two goals, four points, 40 hits, and a minus-4 rating. It will be fascinating to see how much of an impact No. 93 makes after getting his first call-up to the Bruins' roster from here.
