The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.
And for today's article, we will continue with the third of 25 people to wear the No. 13 jersey, Boston big man alum Enes (Kanter) Freedom. After ending his college career at Kentucky (he attended, but never played), Freedom was picked up with the third overall selection of the 2011 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz.
The Zurich, Switzerland native would play parts of the first 3 seasons of his pro career with the Jazz, and would also have stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers before signing with Boston in 2019 for the first of two stints, interrupted by a trade to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2020 and ending with another trade, this time to the Houston Rockets in 2022.
During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Freedom wore only jersey Nos. 11 and 13 and put up 6.4 points and as many rebounds per game.
