Brazil icon urges Barcelona to sign Atletico Madrid goal machine – ‘Would like to have him here’
Former Barcelona forward Rivaldo believes that Julian Alvarez would be an excellent signing for the Catalan club if the financial situation allowed it.
The Brazilian legend has been highly impressed by Alvarez’s impact at Atletico Madrid, where the Argentine forward has delivered a remarkable debut season.
His impressive numbers have caught the attention of many, including Rivaldo, who sees him as a perfect fit for Barcelona.
The former Ballon d’Or winner has expressed his admiration for the 25-year-old forward, suggesting that he would be a fantastic addition to Barcelona’s squad.
“He is a great player and I would really like to see him at Barcelona, he would be a great reinforcement without a doubt,” he began saying.
Would love to see him at Barcelona
However, signing Alvarez would require a significant financial commitment given that Atletico Madrid invested an initial €75 million to Manchester City, with an additional €20 million in performance-based variables.
Given Barcelona’s current economic challenges, completing such a high-profile transfer would be a difficult task.
Rivaldo acknowledged this reality, pointing out that the club would need to conduct a thorough financial evaluation before considering any potential move for the Argentine striker.
“Everything would depend on a detailed analysis by the club, especially in the financial aspect and how this transfer could be carried out. But yes, I would very much like to have him here,” he added.
Barcelona’s treble chances
Looking at the bigger picture, Rivaldo remains optimistic about Barcelona’s potential to secure another historic treble.
With success still possible in all three major competitions, Rivaldo sees no reason why Barcelona cannot dream of achieving another treble, just like they did in 2009 and 2015.
“The way they are playing, with joy, with unity in the dressing room and respecting what the coach asks for, they can go far.
“Barcelona is very much alive in the three competitions and has everything to conquer a new treble,” he added.
