Blues Coach Provides Encouraging Colton Parayko Injury Update
Back in early March, St. Louis Blues star defenseman Colton Parayko underwent a scope on his knee. The Blues announced that Parayko would miss the next six weeks because of it, which was the amount of time left in the season when the news was revealed. As a result, it seemed likely that this was going to end Parayko's campaign.
However, based on Blues head coach Jim Montgomery's most recent update, it appears that there is a chance Parayko's regular season may not be done just yet.
While speaking with reporters, including KMOV's Grace Ybarra, Montgomery shared that Parayko is "progressing really well" with his recovery and believes that the right-shot defenseman will be ready to return before his six-week estimated recovery timeline.
"He is progressing really well," Montgomery said. "He's an exemplary recovery athlete, in the sense that he doesn't take any time off... Do I think he's going to be six weeks? I do not think he's going to be six weeks. That's just me because that's my belief in him and our athletic training staff and our doctors, but outside of that, I don't know how much sooner than six weeks."
It would be massive if the Blues get Parayko back before the end of the season. The Central Division club is currently in a tight wild card race in the Western Conference, and Parayko is their No. 1 defenseman. Thus, they would get a serious boost if he is given the green light to return before the six-week mark.
In 62 games this season with the Blues, Parayko has scored a career-high 15 goals and has 35 points, 90 hits, 140 blocks, and a plus-8 rating.
