The much-anticipated photo of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye standing side-by-side on a North Carolina practice field with Tar Heels coach Bill Belichick finally happened.
Maye, who is originally from North Carolina, spent three years playing for the Tar Heels program. So he was bound to run into Belichick at some point. The moment was caught on camera by the Carolina Football social media team on Friday during Maye's spring practice visit.
Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl-winning NFL head coach, is preparing for his first season as a college head coach. A few months after he was fired by the Patriots, the team used the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft to select Maye.

The Tar Heels are hoping Belichick can help turn the program into a perennial playoff contender. New England is hoping to achieve the same with Maye under center at quarterback for the Patriots.
The picture depicts two men on completely different journeys but forever linked by the two football programs.
