Augusta National shuts down afternoon patron access for Monday's practice round at Masters

Augusta National Golf Club announced Monday afternoon it was shutting down the day's access for patrons because of bad weather. In a 3 p.m. post on X, formerly Twitter, the club said via its Masters account fans would not be allowed back onto the property. A huge band of rain storms had soaked much of Georgia and South Carolina through the day, stretching up the eastern seaboard.

Patrons on the course as inclement weather suspends play during the first day of the 2025 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.

Monday’s practice round already had been suspended at 11:25 a.m. That followed Sunday night’s announcement that the gates would be closed to patrons on Monday morning, even though a temporary shift in the weather had led to a reversal of that decision and patrons being allowed through the gates for a spell on Monday.

Augusta National said it will refund patrons in May, and those patrons who had Monday practice round tickets will be eligible to buy tickets to the 2026 Monday practice round.

Weather at Augusta National during Masters week

AccuWeather reports the next several days should have better weather. There is a 3 percent chance of rain in Augusta on Tuesday, a 2 percent chance for Wednesday when the annual Par 3 Tournament will be held, and a 23 percent chance for Thursday’s first round of the Masters. Things aren’t looking as good for Friday, for which AccuWeather is predicting a 71 percent chance of rain. The weekend is predicted to then have better weather, with a 25 percent chance of rain Saturday and no chance Sunday.
