The University of North Florida and Jacksonville University will travel to Alabama to play in the ASUN Women's Golf Championship beginning on Sunday at the Robert Trent Jones Hampton Cove Course in Owens Crossroads, Ala.
Based on their current Scorecard rankings and the spring results, the tournament could shape up to be a three-way battle among the Ospreys, Dolphins and Florida Gulf Coast. UNF is ranked 104th in the nation, JU is 123rd and FGCU is the highest-ranked ASUN team at 73rd.
About the North Florida Opsreys
Spring results: UNF has a high finish of fourth, and has finished eighth twice, 12th and 14th.
Last lineup: Senior Casilda Allendesalazar, junior Honghong Zhou, sophomore Kaitlyn Schroeder, senior Kaitlynn Washburn, freshman Bradyn Smith.
Outlook: Allendesalazar has earned ASUN Player of the Week three times this season and Schroeder twice. But UNF has had difficulty finding consistency on the back end of the starting five. Allendesalazar and Schroeder have combined for eight top-10 finishes but no other player has finished that high in the fall or spring. The Ospreys have won three ASUN titles, the last in 2022.
About the Jacksonville Dolphins
Spring results: JU has a high finish of second, with other finishes of fifth, seventh, ninth and 14th.
Last lineup: Senior Casey Powell, graduate senior Susana Olivares, junior Erin Marcelino, freshman Sophia Perkins, junior Ivete Rodrigues.
Outlook: Olivares and Powell are trending up. Olivares has finished ninth, third and tied for 12th in her last three starts and Powell has a tie for sixth and a tie for 12th among her last three outings. JU is still searching for its first-ever ASUN Championship.
