Area coaches among finalists for Fall 2024 Coach of the Year awards from the SDHSCA
SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Valley High School's competitive cheer coach Casie King is one of eight coaches who have been named Fall 2025 Coaches of the Year by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association.
King led the Cossacks to their 18th consecutive state Class A cheer championship in October. Sioux Valley is the only school to win the Class A title since the S.D. High School Activities Association sanctioned the sport in 2007.
Other Coach of the Year winners include Robin Murphy of Yankton, competitive dance; Hailee Fischer of Harrisburg, girls soccer; Jory Wipf of James Valley Christian, boys soccer; Stephanie McCord of Kimball-White Lake, girls cross country; Ralph Kroetch of Philip, boys cross country; Pat Ruml of Howard, football; and Erica Fersdahl of Dell Rapids, volleyball.
These coaches will be recognized at the annual awards banquet on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Mitchell Career & Technical Education Academy Performing Art Center. The banquet will start at 1 p.m.

Dance — Ashley Hoffman of Brandon Valley, Thomas Nguyen of Harrisburg and Amanda Stoeser of Pierre.
Girls Soccer — Sheila Diercks of O'Gorman, Ethan Poulter of Sioux Falls Christian, Logan Schaefers of Sioux Falls Washington and Luis Usera of Rapid City Stevens.
Boys Soccer — Lance Mohr of Aberdeen Central, Alex Nelson of Sioux Falls Lincoln, Curt Nelson of Vermillion and Michael Olson of O'Gorman.
SPRING 2024 COACHES OF THE YEAR: Watertown's Corey Neale named Coach of Year in boys golf and former WHS coach Scott Ewald to join SDHSCA hall
Girls Cross Country — Kris Boekelheide of Northwestern, Matt Genrich of Harrisburg and Luke Vander Leest of Sioux Falls Christian.
Boys Cross Country — Julie Holdeman of Mitchell Christian, Luke Jelen of Sioux Falls Lincoln and Luke Vander Leest of Sioux Falls Christian.
Football — Shawn Flanagan of Lennox, Jared Fredenburg of Sioux Falls Lincoln, John Hodorff of Watertown, Tom Moore of Sully Buttes and Jeff Sheehan of Hamlin.
Volleyball — Ronette Costain of Harrisburg, Kari Jung of Warner, Erik Krenzof Dakota Valley and Jean O'Hara of Chester Area.
