Are you OK with Mason Rudolph as the Steelers starter in 2025?
As we all sit in suspense to see if free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, we can't help but wonder about what will happen if Rodgers decides to play elsewhere or even retire. If either of these things happen, there's a real possibility that the Steelers start the 2025 season with veteran Mason Rudolph as the starting quarterback.
And Steelers fans seem to be ok with this. In fact, since Pittsburgh re-signed Rudolph away from the Tennessee Titans, there's been an outpouring of support by Steelers fans for Rudolph.
Rudolph spent his first four seasons with Pittsburgh. He was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Oklahoma State. Rudolph was supposed to be the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger but ended up being swept up in a mishmash of quarterbacks.
As a starter in Pittsburgh, Rudolph has an 8-4-1 record. He was a consummate professional during his first tenure with the Steelers and a team-first guy in every sense of the word. Rudolph also plays with a ton of confidence and a sense of calm, where the game never seems too big for him.
If the Rodgers situation drags on for too long, would the Steelers be better off just pulling their offer and going with Rudolph? We are honestly warming up to the idea and so long as the Steelers address quarterback in the draft, I don't see where it wouldn't work.
