Arch Manning is eligible for the 2026 draft, but an NFL insider has doubts he'll declare

The New Orleans Saints have a good chance of being back in the young quarterback market next year. Arch Manning, grandson of Saints legend Archie Manning, will be a popular name thrown around. That feeling isn't exclusive to the Saints either.

When people think of 2026 quarterback class, Texas quarterback Arch Manning is one of the first names many think of. There’s some belief there will be a ‘Tank for Arch’ movement next season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, “There’s no guarantees that Arch Manning’s coming out after next year. It sounds like he certainly could be staying beyond next year.”

It's important to note Manning doesn't have a year as a starter under his belt. Planning to tank for a player who hasn't been a full time starter in college feels a bit reckless, but he's a Manning. A lot of the hype around him comes from his high school production and family name. There are some who may believe being a starting professional quarterback is in simply in his blood.

Speaking of his family history, Schefter points to the Mannings' collegiate tendencies as another potential indicator. "None of the Mannings ever went out early," Schefter pointed out. In addition to family history and needing time to develop, NIL has changed how lucrative it is for players to remain in college. Schefter doesn't see a reason for Arch to break family tradition when he can be compensated handsomely to stay at Texas.

The 2025 NFL draft hasn't passed yet, but there are already eyes on next year. Fixating on Manning could be a dangerous strategy.
