Akron's Zippy dethroned by another Ohio college mascot in Sports Illustrated ranking
Zippy has been knocked off her thrown.
In a Sports Illustrated ranking, Zippy came in as the second-best mascot in this year's NCAA Tournament.
The University of Akron's bouncing kangaroo was No. 1 in the rankings last year. Overtaking Zippy this year is D'Artagnan and the Blue Blob from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
That's right, it took two mascots to take down Zippy.
The worst mascot, according to these rankings, is the Tiger at Clemson University. The sports magazine apparently couldn't get over feline's "psychotic eyes."
Akron (28-6) can defend Zippy's honor in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night against college basketball powerhouse Arizona.
Xavier (21-11) is in the play-in round and will face Texas on Wednesday night.
