Aggie fans react to Texas A&M's 91-79 March Madness loss Michigan in round two
The Texas A&M Aggies 2025 campaign is over after a 91-79 loss to Michigan in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Texas A&M basketball fans endured heartbreak as the Aggies fell short against Michigan in the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines clawed their way back in the second half, taking a decisive lead with six minutes remaining and never relinquishing control. Key factors in the Aggies' loss were free-throw disparity and rebounding challenges, with Michigan sinking 10 more free throws and securing nine additional boards. Despite A&M's resilience, these stats proved crucial.
Additionally, Texas A&M struggled to stay consistent in their offensive strategy. Though Pharrel Payne delivered a standout performance, scoring 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting and going 6-of-9 from the free-throw line, the Aggies leaned heavily on three-point shots late in the game. They attempted 27 threes and made just 25.9%, a choice that left fans questioning why Payne didn’t get more touches in the final moments.
While the loss stings, the Aggies' 2025 season featured inspiring highs. Wade Taylor IV cemented his legacy as the program's all-time leading scorer, and the team made history with their upset of No. 1 Auburn. Texas A&M basketball under Coach Buzz Williams displayed unwavering determination and unity, captivating fans throughout the journey. As the seniors shared their final time on the basketball court, we would like to wish them well as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.
Below are reactions from Aggie fans and the media after the game.
It's been a journey and fun to watch
What a Last Dance for @aggiembk.

Especially thinking about the core that’s been together the last 3+ seasons:
Henry Coleman, Andersson Garcia, Wade Taylor, Hayden Hefner, Manny Obaseki, and Solomon Washington (only one who can come back).
Been a pleasure watching y’all 🫡 pic.twitter.com/SjlRYmsW6O

62 combined free throws are just too many for a Tournament game
And that's a wrap on the 2024-25 season, with Michigan winning 91-79. What an absolutely infuriating outcome. It's hard enough to win a game, but when three guys wearing stripes decide to butt in...forget it.

The defense struggled down the stretch

Payne will be a major building block for next year
Ready to move on from this era of Aggie basketball. It was fun but always so disappointing. Build around Payne and turn the page

Payne scored another 20 point+ game, but they came up just short
What a performance from Pharrel Payne 👏

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for an Aggies win 😔 pic.twitter.com/sa5Y3oEevS
This was a special team and to see them loss in round two is heartbreaking
Legitimately so sad for this team…
— Aggie Sports 365 (@365Aggie) March 22, 2025
This group of guys will be Aggie legends for a long time though. Awesome group of guys. I wish they could’ve had a better end result.
It's unfortunate that Payne didn't get more touches late in the game
Texas A&M took a 70-66 lead with 7:58 remaining. Pharrel Payne, who scored a career-high 26 points, did not attempt a shot the rest of the way.

With a major roster turnover will that include the coaching staff?
Buzz has yet to see the second weekend. Conversations need to be had.

The end of an Era
One of the Aggie greats ♥️

Thank you, Wade Taylor.#MarchMadnesspic.twitter.com/KHo0DcH3m8
Coleman was a key contributor and rewrote the record books
Henry Coleman ended his stellar Aggie career as the all-time leader in offensive rebounds, 4th in defensive rebounds, and 9th in total rebounds.

Congrats on a helluva career Henry! pic.twitter.com/HaTWUSVqbZ
It was a fun group to watch and for the last time for this squad. Gig'em Ags!
An incredible group.
