8-time Pro Bowl CB Patrick Peterson to officially retire as member of Arizona Cardinals

We know what Patrick Peterson is returning to Arizona for. After he referenced a return to Arizona earlier this week, leading to speculation about signing, retiring or joining the organization in some role, ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news.

Peterson is going to retire a Cardinal. The team announced a press conference for Monday.

This will be similar to when legendary safety Adrian Wilson did so in April 2015, signing a one-day contract to official retire as a member of the team who drafted him.

Peterson played a decade for the Cardinals after he was drafted fifth overall in 2011.

He made the Pro Bowl every year for the first eight years of his career and then had some issues. He requested a trade in 2018 and then, in 2019, was suspended for PED use. He left in free agency after 2020 and had bad things to say about the team's former general manager Steve Keim.

However, it would appear that fences have been mended.

He finished his career playing two years for the Minnesota Vikings and one for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. He did not play in the NFL last season.

He was one of the greatest and most decorated cornerbacks the Cardinals have had, although he did have rough times at the end of his time with the team.

His career might be Hall of Fame worthy.

But Monday Cardinals fans and the organization can celebrate the one-time great, even legendary, player.
