7-round mock draft fills many needs for Arizona Cardinals
It is mock draft season and we are a little more than a month away from the actual 2025 NFL draft. With each mock draft, we can play out certain scenarios and possibilities. For the Arizona Cardinals, we know they have their biggest needs at guard, linebacker and probably receiver, while they could always use defensive linemen, edge rushers and cornerback.
AZCentral's Theo Mackie put together a seven-round mock draft for the Cardinals, filling a lot of their needs.
Arizona Cardinals 7-round mock draft
- Round 1: North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel
- Round 2: Ohio State EDGE J.T. Tuimoloau
- Round 3: Maryland DT Jordan Phillips
- Round 4: Texas WR Isaiah Bond
- Round 5: Minnesota LB Cody Lindenberg
- Round 7: Syracuse S Alijah Clark
Analysis
While a recent mock draft by NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah also has the Cardinals selecting Zabel in the first round, this would be a change for general manager Monti Ossenfort. He has used first-round picks at premium positions from big programs. While Zabel played tackle last season, he is projected to be a guard or even a center. And the 16th pick is considered to be a bit high in terms of value.
Tuimoloau fits the physical profile the Cardinals like off the edge, as he is 6-foot-4, 265 pounds and has nearly 34-inch arms. He led the Big Ten with 12.5 sacks and added 22 tackles for loss as part of the Buckeyes' championship team. This pick makes a lot of sense.
The defensive tackle class is deep and Phillips is part of that. But he didn't have a sack in college and only had three total tackles for loss. And while some of his testing at the combine was fine, his 8.19-second three-cone is a bit of an athletic red flag.
Bond isn't as fast as he said he would be, but he is fast. He was used for downfield routes but he is shorter (5-foot-10) than the Cardinals tend to like their receivers.
The Cardinals would have inside information on Lindenberg through new defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere, as he was on Minnesota's staff last season. This pick makes sense.
The addition of Clark in the seventh round is also fine because he is an athletic safety.
