The Eagles and 31 other teams are preparing for the April NFL draft, but the first owner of business will be the league's owners meeting in Florida.
The NFL's annual meeting will take place in Palm Beach, Florida, from March 30 to April 2, and plenty of storylines will surround the Super Bowl champions. Philadelphia will replace Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier, who will return to New Orleans to become the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Saints.
We're looking at several Eagles-related storylines with the meetings beginning on Sunday morning.
Eagles are the champs
Last year at this time, owner Jeffrey Lurie had to answer questions about his team losing six of its final seven games, including a blowout loss to the Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card game. Philadelphia would hire Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio while signing Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun, among others, in NFL free agency. This year will be smooth sailing for Lurie, who'll answer questions about opposing franchises trying to copy his model.
Howie Roseman to explain his off-season moves
Last off-season, the Eagles GM hit on some big free agent swings like Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Roseman also restructured Josh Sweat and traded Haason Reddick last off-season. After winning the Super Bowl this off-season, the Eagles suffered massive losses in free agency. Still, they rebounded to make several key signings, including A.J. Dillon (RB), Joshua Uche (LB), Adoree' Jackson (CB), Charley Hughlett (LS), Patrick Johnson (LB), and Avery Williams (KR/PR). The first wave of free agency saw Josh Sweat (Cardinals), Milton Williams (Patriots), Kenneth Gainwell (Steelers), Mekhi Becton (Chargers), and Oren Burks (Bengals) all depart.
More potential free agent moves
Philadelphia loves to pull off a late free agency trade or signing around NFL draft time, and this year, Howie Roseman could potentially acquire another pass rusher, linebacker, or safety. The Eagles could also trade away assets like Dallas Goedert.
Nick Sirianni's revenge
Last year at the meetings, Sirianni was grilled on the Eagles' disastrous finish and his feelings on the Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio hires. A year later, Sirianni is a Super Bowl champion who'll likely sign a long-term contract extension in the coming weeks.
NFL Draft
Philadelphia has eight draft picks and 22+ over the next two years. With a Super Bowl roster and few holes, Roseman could draft the best player available and look to move up and down the draft board.
