Hideki Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters to become Asia's first Masters champion. It was also the first major championship for Japan. Eight days earlier, Japan's Tsubasa Kajitani won the Augusta National Women's Amateur. It was the second Masters in six months. Matsuyama shot 1 over in the final round but held on for a one-stroke victory over Will Zalatoris.
