14 former Arizona Cardinals player, 4 former draft picks in UFL in 2025
The UFL is back and games start soon. The eight franchises for the spring league announced their rosters following training camp and can see a few former Arizona Cardinals players.
Of the eight teams in the league, six have a total of 14 former Cardinals players who spent any time at all on their roster, including four players the Cardinals drafted. The St. Louis Battlehawks have the most former Cardinals with four.

Former Arizona Cardinals players on 2025 UFL rosters
Arlington Renegades
- WR JaVonta Payton: Payton spent 2022 training camp with the Cardinals after signing as an undrafted rookie.
Birmingham Stallions
- DE Myjai Sanders: Sanders was drafted in the third round by the Cardinals in 2022 and spent a year and a half with the team before getting released. He showed promise as a rookie but apparently didn't fit with Nick Rallis' defense.
D.C. Defenders
- C Lamont Gaillard: The Cardinals drafted him in the sixth round in 2019. He did not play at all as a rookie but played in 13 games in 2020, starting twice.
- K Matt McCrane: McCrane was a fill-in kicker for the Cardinals in Arizona in 2018 for one game and spent the offseason with the team. He made all three extra points he attempted in the one game he played.
- CB Michael Ojemudia: He spent the 2024 offseason and preseason with the Cardinals before being released.

Michigan Panthers
- C Cohl Cabral: The former Arizona State center spent about five days on the offseason roster in August 2023 before getting released as part of final cuts.
- DE T.J. Carter: Carter signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie in 2020 but did not make the team. He also spent a few days on the roster at the end of the preseason in 2024 before he was cut again.
San Antonio Brahmas
- WR Jontre Kirklin: Kirklin was an undrafted rookie in 2022 who signed with the Cardinals. He played well in the preseason but was among final cuts, was brought back to the practice squad for a week and then released.
- QB Jarrett Guarantano: Guarantano signed with the Cardinals in 2022 as an undrafted rookie and spent the first four weeks of the 2022 season on the practice squad. He was resigned to the practice squad late in the season and elevated to the active roster for a game but did not play.
- DL Rashard Lawrence: Lawrence was drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round in 2020 and played three seasons for the team, appearing in 25 games, starting 13. He did not make the roster in 2023 and has bounced around some teams' practice squads.
St. Louis Battlehawks
- K Rodrigo Blankenship: He kicked two games for the Cardinals, making all three field goals but missed an extra point.
- LB Chris Garrett: He spent a few days on the offseason roster at the end of the preseason in 2024 before being released.
- WR Hakeem Butler: Butler was a fourth-round pick in 2019 but never played a game for them. He got hurt in the preseason as a rookie and spent the season on injured reserve. He was cut before the 2020 season.
- DT Phil Hoskins: Hoskins spent most of the 2023 season on the Cardinals' practice squad but did play in five games, starting once and logging eight total tackles. He spent the 2024 offseason and preseason with Arizona before being released.
