The Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals kicked off with a pair of vintage matchups in Mexico and the United States.
This is what went down.
LA Galaxy 0-0 Tigres
Tigres secured a goalless draw away from home against MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy.
The less than half-full Dignity Health Sports Park was the perfect setting for this dull affair, as neither side truly found any sort of rhythm on the night.

With neither team creating more than scraps in front of goal, the attention will turn to the second-leg in Mexico.
Tigres will be buoyed by the the quarterfinal coming down to 90 minutes in El Volcán, where they have a history of blowing MLS teams away.
Club América 0-0 Cruz Azul
The first-leg of the highly anticipated last-eight showdown between Liga MX rivals Club América and Cruz Azul finished goalless in Mexico City.
It was not for a lack of trying however, as both sides should perhaps have found the opener in the first-half, with Cruz Azul seeing a goal ruled out for offside.
Kevin Mier pulled off a handful of superb saves to keep the scoresheet untouched, and perhaps keeping Cruz Azul in the tie.

But Mexico's number one, Luis Malagón, responded in kind, making some massive stops of his own.

While the scoreline will show 0-0, it was one of the more breathless goalless draws you'll see in a cup competition.
The attention will turn the second-leg, where there is everything to play for in this massive showdown between Mexican giants.
