'Zero' chance of Ivanka Trump on campaign trail, Jared Kushner says
The public shouldn't expect to see Ivanka Trump on the campaign trail, her husband, Jared Kushner, told The New York Times on Tuesday.
Kushner said there was "zero" chance of former President Trump's daughter stepping into the spotlight in the days remaining before the election.
He also shared that Ivanka “made the decision when she left Washington that she was closing that chapter of her life. And she’s been remarkably consistent.”
Ivanka Trump, a mother of three and the former president’s second-oldest child, served as executive vice president of the Trump Organization and was a boardroom judge on "The Apprentice."
She left the post in 2018 to become a senior adviser alongside her husband in the White House, where she focused on education, job creation and the economy, a sector the family could benefit from if the Republican nominee is reelected.
Kushner manages a $3 billion private equity fund supported by foreign governments former President Trump has promised to tax heavily. Last week, Democrats called on the Justice Department to investigate his ties to Saudi Arabia over potential lobbying discrepancies.
“We’re rooting for him — obviously, we’re proud of him,” Kushner told the Times. “But, you know, either way, our life will just continue to move forward.”
Ivanka Trump played a major role in her father's two previous bids for the presidency, serving as a direct line to female voters, a demographic the former president is currently struggling to reach.
However, she has remained absent from the campaign front lines over the past few months, as has former President Trump's wife, Melania, who made a surprise appearance at his Sunday Madison Square Garden rally.
Their silence has left a notable stain on the former president's campaign as women amount to less than half of his supporters.
