White House comms team 'pre-gaming' with McDonald's ahead of Trump address

Staffers in the White House Office of Communications enjoyed a meal from McDonald's ahead of President Trump’s first joint address before Congress of his second term.
"White House Comms is pre-gaming the Joint Session the MAGA way," Kaelan Dorr, deputy assistant to the president and White House deputy communications director, wrote in a Tuesday post on the social platform X.
“Buckle up for Must See TV!” he added.
The post featured a photo of fries, chicken nuggets and burgers.
In October, Trump worked at a drive-thru at a McDonald’s during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania. The fast-food restaurant agreed to host Trump but said at the time that it was not endorsing a candidate in the U.S. presidential race.
Following the stop, the president began selling shirts featuring a photo of Trump leaning out of a drive-thru window, waving with text that read “MAGADonald’s.”
A number of Democrats said they would not attend Trump’s joint address to Congress. However, earlier today White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed concerns of Democrats protesting during the president’s remarks.
“I think, frankly, the Democrats should think about if they should stand up in applause for some of the things President Trump will be talking about. He's bringing common sense back to this country,” Leavitt told Fox News.
The president is expected to highlight border security, mass deportation efforts and U.S. relations with Russia and Ukraine.
