Watch live: Trump, Zelensky give remarks as Ukraine minerals deal comes into focus

President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are meeting at the White House Friday as the two put in work to finalize a deal that would provide the U.S. with critical minerals from Ukraine in exchange for some level of security against threats from Russia.
Trump laid out the basics of the expected agreement during a press conference Thursday, arguing that it will allow the U.S. to recoup aid provided to Kyiv in its three-year war with Russia — and help to boost Ukraine's economy.
Critics, including those on Capitol Hill, have argued it amounts to the Trump administration pressuring Ukraine into a deal as it engages with Russia on peace talks.
The duo also held a bilateral meeting in the afternoon.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
