Watch live: Biden speaks after designating new monuments in California
President Biden, with just under two weeks left in office, will give remarks in California Tuesday afternoon.
His speech comes after he announced the creation of two new monuments: Chuckwalla National Monument and the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument — protecting a combined 848,000 acres of land with particular significance to tribes.
This is likely one of the last, if not the final, conservation action completed by the Biden administration before President-elect Trump takes office later this month.
The event was originally scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. EST in Thermal, Calif., but due to "weather issues" the trip was canceled, according to the White House.
He is now expected to give remarks from Los Angeles, with the time to be determined.
