Trump wins Kentucky
Former President Trump has won the 2024 presidential race in Kentucky, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.
A reliably red state, Trump won Kentucky in 2016 and 2020 by a nearly 30-point margin against his Democratic opponents — 25.9 percent and 29.8 percent, respectively. The Bluegrass State has eight votes in the Electoral College.
Republican incumbent Rep. James Comer also sought reelection this cycle against first-time candidate Erin Marshall (D). Polling forecasts ahead of the Nov. 5 general election showed Comer would retain his seat.
Earlier this year, Kentucky made national headlines as Vice President Harris's campaign courted Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear as a potential vice presidential pick. Beshear, first elected in 2019, beat a Trump-backed competitor for the state’s top office in 2023.
Kentucky has voted for the Republican presidential candidate since 1996, when the state threw its support behind former President Clinton, a Democrat.
