Trump tops Harris by 2 points among Arab American voters: Survey
Former President Trump leads Vice President Harris by 2 points among Arab American voters, according to a survey released Monday.
The poll, conducted by Arab News/YouGov, found Trump leading the Democratic nominee 45 percent to 43 percent among Arab Americans, despite those voters seeing the Republican nominee as more supportive of Israel’s current government.
About 4 percent said they would most likely vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, 6 percent were undecided and 2 percent didn’t share their preference. Trump’s lead was within the poll’s margin of error.
More voters trusted the former president to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict than Harris, at 39 percent to 33 percent of survey respondents.
The survey also showed 69 percent seeing the Republican nominee as supportive of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, compared to 60 percent who said the same of Harris.
Respondents were split when asked which candidate would be “better for the Middle East” in general. Both major party candidates garnered 38 percent, 9 percent picked Stein while 7 percent chose another option.
Nearly half of the respondents, 46 percent, said racism and hate attacks against Arab Americans would likely increase during Trump’s potential second term. Half as many respondents, 23 percent, said the same of a potential Harris presidency.
More voters in the survey thought that Trump would be better for the U.S. economy, 47 percent, than the Democratic nominee, 41 percent.
A similar survey from the Arab American Institute earlier this month had Trump leading by a razor-thin margin, 42 percent to 41 percent, over Harris.
The Arab News/YouGov Poll was conducted between Sept. 26 and Oct. 1 among 500 Arab Americans. The margin of error was 5.93 percentage points.
